B David

B David Crown

Company History

The B David Jewelry Company was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1945 as a small jewelry shop. Their pieces became quite popular. They were known for designing more tasteful (i.e. smaller) and elegant jewelry.

B David Jewelry’s manufacturing process allowed them to use rhodium-plated and gold-plated pieces along with Austrian crystals of varying styles and colors. The crystals were high-quality and resembled real gemstones. These pieces were displayed and presented in boxes suitable for fine jewelry.

In 1993, Debra Moreland of Paris Jewelry bought the company’s manufacturing sector.

Collecting B David

B David jewelry was marked B David in block letters, also inside an oval, inside a square, and BD stamped diagonally.

Mother’s Crown brooches were B David’s specialty. Also called Parent Crowns, these pins were typically presented as a gift to new mothers. The crystals in the crown were individually selected by the purchaser and therefore, no two are identical. The crystals selected often spelled the name of the child by using the first letter of the simulated gemstone. For example, a clear crystal would represent the letter D (diamond), a red crystal would represent the letter R (ruby), etc.

Expect to pay between $30 and $100 for most pieces.
